Term 4 Year 10 2011 Attendance and Program
To Parents and Year 10 students
The NSW Department of Education and Communities directs all students in Year 10 to attend school until Friday 16th December 2011.
Narara Valley High School has developed a program for all Year 10 students to follow until their final day. An outline of this program is as follows:
| Week 6 – 14/11 – 8/11 | Normal scheduled timetable. Friday 18/11/11 – OH&S White Card for targeted students. |
| Week 7 – 21/11 – 5/11 | Monday 21/11 – *HSC: All My Own Work mandatory program to be completed. Tuesday 22/11 – 25/11 – Work Experience (selected students). The rest of the students attend as per normal timetabled lessons. |
| Week 8 – 28/11 – 2/12 | All week Work Experience (selected students). The rest of the students attend as per normal timetabled lessons. |
| Week 9 – 5/12 – 9/12 | Transition Week – All Year 10 students will participate in a week of lessons/ activities/ mandatory courses focused on successful transitioning into the Preliminary year before the HSC. |
| Week 10 – 12/12 – 16/12 | Monday 12/12 – Thursday 15/12 – Activities Week Friday 16/12 – Year 10 Graduation |
*The HSC: All My Own Work program is designed to help Higher School Certificate students to follow the principles and practices of good scholarship. This includes understanding and valuing ethical practices when locating and using information as part of their HSC studies.
The program has been developed as part of the NSW Government's Respect and Responsibility strategy and complements other approaches such as brochures for teachers, students and parents and strengthened student and teacher declarations for the HSC.
Attendance throughout this period is compulsory as the programs and events organised are essential to successful transitioning into the Preliminary and HSC Years.
